Another huge weekend for us boys @ Monorex / Secret Wars HQ - Not only did we have to set up and drop a huge battle @ the V&A, but a day after on the Saturday we went straight to Juno for the London series duel between Reeps 1 and Jeba.....

These two are the youngest participants in this years competition, but that does not make a slight difference as they both ooze in raw artistic talent. It was always going to be a close draw as Reeps is a crowd favourite due to his multi talented skills (beatboxing, chess and graff), while Jeba has really stepped up this year and evolved into a promising young battle artist....These guys both know how to battle!
As usual the Juno bar was rammed with people eager to see the next installment of Secret Wars, we had a little change up on the soundsystem with Session being replaced by Henry Rumour and Jimi Crayon replacing Reeps as the host.
Last Saturday we drove down to Cardiff for a Secret Wars (Tag team) rematch - Last time round England (Teck, Dbug and Max) wowed the crowds with their George of the dragon piece....
This time round things didn't go quite as planned! Reeps and Jeba decided on drawing some zombie SHEEP...probably the last thing the welsh wanted to see! After that it was all down hill from there really.
Casey and Hannah (Welsh team) dropped a rather unusual Secret Wars piece but had a solid plan and stuck to it....nice lines and good execution!
6 pints of lager later it was time to watch the England team suffer for their actions - First judge went Wales and then came the crowd vote, The 300 strong crowd all started cheering in sync (WALES, WALES, WALES......) Blasting the decibel machine into a state of shock (121 db on the reader) against Englands 115db.
All in all this was a great and very fun night - really good to see such strong support for Secret Wars over in the green hills of Wales....Met lots of interesting people and artists who were all keen to get involved! Hopefully we can set up a proper monthly down those ends??? Watch this space....

The boys have just re-painted Juno (Shoreditch High St), dropping some fresh Black and White artwork in time for the start of Secret Wars Series 3 London...

SERIES 3 STARTS @ JUNO (SHOREDITCH HIGH ST) ON THE 26TH JULY - DOORS OPEN FROM 6PM...GET THERE EARLY AS THIS WILL BE A VERY BUSY NIGHT....
Our Euro man Ian sorted out with streetwear brand Upper Playground for Monorex to come work some magic on their windows....So we decided to drop a small in store party - inviting Reeps 1 down alongside Jeba.
Over the 4 hours we were in store Reeps blasted the ever growing crowd with his new beatbox set and both him and Jeba took out 2 store (Demo, Upper Playground) windows with large oversize graphics using the edding 4090 window markers...
We then hit Mr Taro's for some "oishi" Japanese noodles - watching Reeps and Jeba use chop sticks for the first time was very funny...got there in the end!
Designers Block invited us to join them in Italy at the open-air public swimming pool, Piscina Argelati, for the madness that is Milan Design Week. Camping on site with, cold showers, free beer, pizza and loads of big white boards to draw on, how could we refuse. From the start this was destined to be one of the rowdiest Secret Wars Battle ever. Jimi Crayon and Jeba had 3 days of non timed drawing, building up a huge battle piece, leaving 2 white boards to be completed during a 90min battle on the Saturday night. A twist on the normal battle format. Reeps One supplied beats and rallied the crowd, then with edding weapons loaded with ink the battle commenced. Jeba battled hard with some messed up cheese monsters and spaghetti demons, while jimi’s tooled up, pooping pigeon flew into action. Both created some fantastic artwork, it looked very close, no one was sure who would win? With 90 mins up, the crowd then went mental as Reeps spat out some mo beats and sounds, (I'm sure he is an android or sumin like that, he isn't human). Then the crowd vote. First result in was jimi, decibel reading 124. Then jeba, decibel reading 121. So there it was, jimi crayon, Secret Wars + designers block, milano champion 2008. Special thanks go to Andy edding UK, Piers, Rory, Gunter, Clifford, Erics, bear, Toby and all the other lovely peeps that we met at Designers Block. No thanks go out to the tea leaves that smashed the hire car window to steal our stuff and the milano police who couldn’t police a bloody kids birthday party. till next time, Ian.
