Hicks is the new London champion!
Wow - still shocked and hungover from an amazing night...over 1200 came through the door with a one in one out all night!! Thanks for all those who came down and had the patience to chill outside.
This Secret Wars was probably the best so far - everything went perfectly and the venue was a huge step up from Cafe 1001. A very proud moment seeing how far Secret Wars has come in just over 2 years....The USA is next!
With Reeps favourite to win, Hicks came in feeling little pressure - Both guys had a plan and both were well prepared for an intense and exciting SW battle.
The crowd was electric and the atmosphere at times was tense...The battle finally kicked off around 10:30pm and people stood in awe as the guys got to work on the large white walls (12ft wide by 8ft high).
All night DJ Session kept the crowd rocking with a stack of classic tunes, with the crowd screaming with every mix.
When the time came to get the judges on stage, the tension began to mount and I found it hard to get anywhere the stage. First up to judge came Ligaya (Victoria & Albert Museum) who decide to give her vote to Hicks, then Reeps came fighting back with a massive decibel smashing crowd vote 1-1....It came down to the final judge - Brett from MTV / 1/10, after much thought and pacing on stage he finally pulled out his edding board marker and scribbled Hicks on his white board!!
We have a new and very worthy champion....Hicks (54 crew)
Thanks to all those who came down and supported and a huge thanks to the entire team on the night and edding markers for linking us up as usual.

Tailored by England - Commission @ Village Underground, London
Monorex were commissioned to paint the large wall @ Village Underground by Umbro for the new England football kit launch.
It took two 12 hour shifts and four men to get the walls white and completed in time for the official press launch.
Teck and Jimi Crayon had to copy and re create the logo below on a large scale.
With a dodgy scaff tower and freak rain showers hitting us - we battled through the elements but got there in the end!

MONOREX IS RECRUITING!
Just like Willy Wonka did - Monorex is un-bolting the locks and opening its doors in a very rare occasion.
Ok so as you know from our last post we have moved into an amazing new studio or some may say luxury penthouse!
Over the last 2 weeks, all of the Monorex team including the artists have been slugging away painting walls and working their magic all over the new 3 floor studio. The empire is slowly growing and now we need to follow back this up with a bigger team...
Who & what we are looking for:
1 x Creative Intern
We see this person wanting to learn the ins and outs of our business while also being a budding and very talented young artist. Keen to help out on all levels, while having the courage to put new ideas forward to the Monorex team.
Job roles: Getting busy in the workshop, blogging, postal duties and running, shadowing in meetings, weekly reports, set up of Secret Wars....PUSHING TO BE PART OF THE MONOREX FAMILY!
Boxes that need ticking:
New Artists
Monorex very rarely opens its books to new artists but we now feel it is about time we did...Over the last 5 years we have built a very good reputation within the street art scene, and we also have a great long list of big name clients. But we now want to step it up 2 gears and search for new artistic talent that bring fresh angles and styles to what we already have, allowing Monorex to expand and get involved in new types of creative briefs.
Creative disciplines and styles of interest:

THE MISSION IS ON...
Yo people the mission is on...Monorex has moved into another new London HQ!
We started in a converted train carriage (2007) and then expanded to a disused Victorian warehouse in Commercial Road (2008) - But we have now decided to step it up 2 gears and take over a slick 4 floor building...Its called "The Mission" and it is the perfect new home for the Monorex Family!
Features include:
A long shot of the whole building - you can't see it but there is an amazing roof terrace as well.
Watch this space as exciting things are bubbling!

SECRET WARS X HAVANA CLUB - REPORT
Things got messy last week down at Village Underground! In a Secret Wars special in collaboration with Havana club and edding UK - Monorex took on Intercity collective on the biggest Secret Wars wall ever built (40ft wide by 16ft high)!
The Monorex team was made up of Stika, Teck, Jimi Crayon, Mr K and Alfa - They came with a loose plan in mind, easiest way to explain would be to say they drew a Cuban party in a old skool Cadillac.
Not only was this event the biggest wall on record but the guys at Secret Wars hq also allowed a small amount of colour to help express the Cuban vibes! Probably never to be seen again at any Secret Wars event....
For all those that were lucky enough to get in and sip on free Havana cocktails (big up), and a HUGE sorry to those peeps that did not get in (RSVP AND GET THERE SOONER NEXT TIME).
Thanks to everyone that helped out and a massive thanks to WIGHT PRESERVATION for building the wall.
Big up to Havana for backing this crazy concept and edding uk for supplying us our battle markers!
